Getting personal is something I do not want to forget to do on my blog. I do tend to be one who really enjoys teaching and thus can sound like that a lot. But today I want to take a moment to introduce myself especially to those who are my new subscribers.
I am a missionary wife, mom of a houseful of kiddos. I am involved in my husband’s ministry, mainly discipling women and we are currently serving the Lord in the country of Nicaragua.
Personal Online Interest
I started venturing online in 2000. I initially got into what is called online marketing, loads of fun. My favorite was when I did eBay. It was fun because I got my children involved when we sold earthworms. So we were worm farmers for a season
It has been a little over two years that I discovered I really enjoyed writing. I started my first ghostwriting gigs for several travel blogs which were lots of fun. I really believed it helped that prior to venturing as a travel writer our entire family travelled around the U.S. for a few years.
We were raising our support to go to the mission field. Most of our traveling was in our van. So, I learned a few do and don’ts when it comes to travelling with kids for miles on end.
Although, I had started writing in personal blogs long before my writing gigs, I just never thought writing was a real passion mine until I worked as a freelancer.
Growing Online Interest
I really enjoy the whole idea of being online but lacked the motivation which stemmed, believe it or not, from fears of being successful. With success comes great responsibility and I admit that was scary to me.
Finally, by God’s grace, I found an excellent mentor, one of my heroes of the faith, Carol Amato, that has been such a blessing to me. She has really helped me verbalize my online desires, which is pretty much what I have desired all along and that is to make a difference in the lives of others (Jude v. 22,23). I have a passion to leave Christ impression in you
My desires are being geared more to ministry than anything else. Although I will continue to do online work such as writing, authoring, eBay and such, my main focus is what I am already doing offline. Being an encouragment and a help wherever my Lord leads.
Thanks to Carol, I discovered that being online can be a powerful tool to passionately get our Lord’s message to others. And where making a difference in the lives of others has become so incredibly possible even for a busy mom of a houseful of children
Getting Personal Online
Getting personal online has been by way, of what I like to call, being an online ambassador for Jesus Christ. As an online ambassador for the Lord you have an incredible opportunity more than ever before to reach out to others right from the comfort of your own home. There is really no excuse why anyone who loves Jesus cannot tell others about their Lord.
My husband sent me the following quote in a personal email that was a real encouragement to me,
“The same person who would never raise his hand in a lecture hall of two hundred people might blog to two thousand, or two million, without thinking twice. The same person who finds it difficult to introduce himself to strangers might establish a presence online and then extend these relationships into the real world.” Susan Cain, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking
You may not realize this but I am introvert, well sort of. One of my High School teachers upon observing me said, “Ann is an introvert with extrovert qualities.” And I believe there is a name for that, ambivert. So praise the Lord, for he made me thus! And it is my Lord’s strength I must truly depend on.
As an online ambassador for Jesus Christ I have met and been involved in the lives of others thanks to email and social media. But there is so much more I desire to learn in order to be effective for Jesus and that is why I am excited to be part of Carol’s Mastermind.
Which by the way, if you either desire to start your own business or you want to be an effective online ambassador for the Lord then I recommend Carol. She is truly helping God’s people for she is both an online marketer herself and an ambassador for our Lord Jesus Christ.
