“Have ye not read…” is found said by our Lord Jesus Christ in seven verses (Mt 12:3, Mt 12:4, Mt 19:5, Mt 22:31, Mark 12:10, Mark 12:26 and Luke 6:3), challenging the people of his day and us as well.

Challenged to Read

I am so thankful that the challenge lives to read our Bible by our Lord’s servants. Evangelist Paul Miller is one of our Lord’s servants who exeplifies his life with the desire to live out the following verse:

“According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.” Phil 1:20

I had recently heard a sermon he did that got me thinking. Reading our Bible should be more essential than the food we eat. In fact we should be willing to feed from God’s word before we nurish the flesh. A challenge that is not difficult to do so long as it is a joy to do it.

I pray you are challenged to read your Bible today.

Update on my Bible Reading

I chose to read one chapter a day and glean all the golden nuggets I could from that chapter. There were days things stood out to me other days they did not seem to. Usually, I would admit I was a bit distracted or overly tired.

On this update it has been a year and three months that I commit to read one chapter a day. The ultimately goal is to do so with out missing a day. So far I have not missed one day, though I have been quite ill at times but little by little I managed in the days I was feeling poorly.
