As I am looking to vacation in the US I have found that these past few weeks have been extremely challenging health wise. Out of a concern of one of my friends I went to see a doctor. Her concern was that I have lost lots of weight. I went to an internal medicine doctor. His test revealed I had colon cancer. Then when I took the CT scan a little over a week later revealed the cancer had not spread and in fact the one in the colon is either very small or gone.
God was so gracious to me because regardless I was simply trusting the Lord that this was all part of his weaving hand. My trust in my Lord was in the bad and good news because for the child of God it is all good (see Romans 8:28).
Well this health stuff has been quite a challenge because through all my examinations I felt I was not bouncing back then come to find out my body was host to some not so nice parasites. I assume all the medical intrusion made them uncomfortable they began to flee. Upon discovering this I took anti-parasitic medication. When it was all said and done I am able to eat normal and now gaining strength. Hopefully soon I will not look so thin and ill to my friend who I am so thankful for because I am not sure I would have made it on my upcoming vacation.
I will be on vacation in the United State with my oldest daughter. It will certainly be difficult to leave the rest of the kiddos back home ranging from 17 years old on down. But I know they can manage as I have a team of great helpers. Well, we shall see what the real report will be when I get back home in a little over three weeks from their dad.
Vacation Plans
I wanted to let you know because I decided not to blog during those weeks that I am on vacation. This way I can give my attention to the divine appointments God would orchestrate for my daughter Sarah and I.
In addition I will be working on some writing while I am on vacation during the quiet moments God gives. But I decided not to take my PC with me just a pen and notebook. I have done this some and find those moments to be the most creative of all.
Of course what I am looking forward most is moments of solitude, just my Lord and I. In a houseful of kiddos this is sometimes very difficult. Living in Nicaragua in a city makes it difficult to escape with my Lord but not impossible. Being back in the states I desire to grow closer to my Lord as I step outside the norm and listen to His precious voice of the God of all comfort.
Vacation Tips
We traveled quite a bit and along the years we have learned many travel tips, so I would like to share them with you. Most of what I learned was when we traveled in a van with our entire family. This time I have tips for what I did to travel from Nicaragua to the US.
First off I personally deciding to travel light. My daughter on the other hand is taking all her things home. But had we both gone back to the US and planned to return to Nicaragua that would be my suggestion, to travel light.
We have friends that enjoy coffee so we decided rather than carrying the coffee with us we shipped it to the US it is just one less thing to worry about when going through customs. You never know security may have tightened up and everything ends up being inspected, opened or even poked.
Reasons for Vacation
Well it truly was the grace of God that I get the opportunity to vacation in the US. I desired to have the opportunity to go back home and now I get to travel with my daughter. The purpose is to visit our church family, a friend on our way to where my daughter will attend Bible College. While there I will also be blessed to visit our oldest son and meet all his friends.
Now one of the reasons I traveled light was to bring stuff back. Yeah, I have a long list of request but I am thankful that most items could be ordered online. Which I started before our trip to have them delivered on time with enough time to pack them.
Well we shall see sometime around August 24 or so what updates I will have, Lord willing. Which is another tip, I give myself at least one week to get back to my normal schedule sometimes more than one week.
And another reason for vacation is the wonderful opportunity to get out of my routine and spend time with my Beloved,
“My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.” Song of Solomon 2:10
