Oh, how we lack true biblical discipleship to help people understand what it means to be in Christ. For years after receiving the precious salvation of Jesus Christ I struggled with understanding that grace for salvation is also for sanctification.

The Power of the Gospel

The same Gospel that saves is the same Gospel that sanctifies. But what richer mysteries I am discovering.

I decided to take a scripture look at the verses that spoke about being in Christ. I will make my notes available in another post, Lord willing.

For now I want to take a look at some points that were made by Eric Ludy in his sermon titled, “In Christ.

“God does not clothe the operation of the devil in the blood of Jesus.” Eric Ludy

God Living in You

God wants to come inside of you by the one, Jesus Christ, who lived the perfect man life. Jesus will live that life now in you. This is an incredible mystery that is revealed to every believer who is IN Christ. When we are in Christ we will discover Jesus is in us.

“God isn’t interested in clothing your filth…He is interested in clothing your filth, bringing you into the presence of God, washing you clean and then sticking the very life, HOLY life of God within you to enable the operation Christianity to actually work. God is after your body. It is not just you in Christ but Christ in you.” ~Eric Ludy

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16

“And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” 2 Corinthians 6:16

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”1 Corinthians 6:19 Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

“And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.” Ephesians 2:20-22

“You must be in Christ to have Christ in you…We have a lot of Christians that are looking for Christ within them and they aren’t in Christ. First the blood must shield you. You cannot have the holy consuming fire and presence of God enter your being without a house of blood to find security in. You cannot enter into the presence of Almighty God without the blood upon your door post. First you must enter into Christ, you must allow Him to prepare this vessel for his Holy Spirit to come in and dwell.” ~Eric Ludy

Mystery Revealed

These are incredible truths that the enemy of our soul does not want you to know ESPECIALLY if the blood of Jesus has saved you. For years after my salvation I struggled to understand that Jesus who saves by the work on the cross also sanctifies by the work on the cross.

The devil wants to keep you from knowing this valuable TRUTH which will sets you free to live the Christian life making you an incredible vessel for the glory of God.

How specifically does the devil keep you from the victorious Christian life?

The same way he did when he tried to convince you that you had to WORK your way in order to be saved.
Now the devil tries to convince you that you have to WORK out your own salvation. The devil is slick and makes sure to use scripture which says, “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” Philippians 2:12

BUT WAIT!

The devil does not remind you of verse 13 which says, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”

Key words are it is GOD WHICH WORKETH in you. Going back to the need of being in Christ so that Christ can be in you, for who pleased the Father most?

"According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death." Philippians 1:20

Christ in Me, Christ in You

Only Jesus Christ can save.

Only when we are in Christ can we truly be prepared by HIM who worketh in you both to will and DO of HIS good pleasure. So that Jesus, our thrice Holy God, can be in us to reach a lost and dying world with HIS message of salvation.

Then we can see people saved AND (so very often neglected) to DISCIPLE a new believer to work out their own salvation, discovering the mystery that when they are in Christ, Christ is in them with all HIS power and glory.

We desire, as God’s servants to see people saved AND living for God by teaching and nurturing them to be in Christ so that Christ may be in them.

So let me ask you…are you saved?

And are you truly in Christ and Christ in you?

Because if that is true, not only are you set free (John 8:32) You have the power to set others free.

You do so with the powerful message of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, in word and in deed, which is more than a ticket to heaven.

The Gospel is also that Heaven is now here on earth as Christ indwells EVERY believer. NOW that is good news, Emmanuel with us!

Christ being born again in His children.

That is a mystery the enemy tries to keep every believer from understanding. Because when we do we are not content with, “I am saved and going to heaven.”

But rather we boldly claim God’s will be on earth as it is in Heaven. Christ ruling in the hearts of every believer.

If you are in Christ the mystery of God is revealed through you and the glory of God is manifest in you.
